DCP Fall Advantage/Spring Extension 2016/2017: Why I Self-Termed

I thought it would be good to post about this, as I know a lot of people who do the program struggle with the decision to self-term. I  will honestly say that I didn’t struggle very much with my decision. That could be because I had already completed a program, but ultimately, I think I knew in my heart that it was time to get away from Disney and go home.

Just a little background info: I started the Disney College Program back in June as a Fall Advantage participant. I was hired as Quick-Service Food and Beverage.  If you read any of my other posts, you would know that I hated my role and my location. Things never got better, they really only got worse, but I loved all the people I worked with, and I had my roommates and other friends to whom I could vent my frustrations. I never thought about going home (except during the summer, like once).

Disney College Program Fall 2016: Accepted

I finally have a free moment! So, as you no doubt have already surmised, I was accepted into the Disney College Program. I was accepted into the Fall Advantage 2016 program at Disney World and was offered a role in Quick-Service Food and Beverage. This acceptance came exactly a week (well, a few hours less than a week) after my phone interview on February 12, which really surprised me.

Now, I’m not going to lie. I incredibly excited to receive the “Congratulations” email from Disney, but when I opened up my offer and saw my role, I was quite disappointed. In my phone interview, we only briefly talked about QSFB (and it was low interest), and I thought I highlighted how I would work well and had experience in other roles (since I currently work in fast food), but since getting the results was so fast, I can only assume that they only really considered me for QSFB.
